Rekids

Walls one sided s/t LP. Searched everywhere for this when we were in the states. Had to go with the eBay option when we got home.

Brain Handle- Smiling/Smiling again single. Pretty sure this is a second press. I picked it up cheap as shit.

Bad Seed s/t 7". Moshy stuff. Kinda like Trapped Under Ice, except not as good.

Mind Eraser Radio Set

In 2007 Mind Eraser, with the help of Welfare Records released a limited (of 50) 8 track cartridge of a live radio set that they recorded with WFMU earlier in that year. I've uploaded the set here. Now this is available to download from the Mind Eraser blog, but it comes as one music file whereas I have broken up the set with correct track names etc. It's a pretty decent set, with SSD and Siege covers.
Also included on the actual cartridge is the live set they played in Toronto at the 2007 Fucked Up Halloween Weekend. I haven't included it here for download though, as I couldn't be rooted breaking up the set, but you can get it too at the Mind Eraser blog if you want, in one chunk. Information on the bands entire (intricate) discography is available at the blog with the more obscure demo stuff available to download. There's about another four or five demos there, most of which went on to be used in later recordings.

$20 Records

I paid $20 each for the following three 7"s from a good friend. Go fuck yourself eBay...

First Sex Vid ep.

First Cult Ritual ep.

Second Cult Ritual ep...

...with epic fold out layout.

And today my new Suffer stuff arrived in the mail. Better than the first demo, this band is now officially my second favourite Australian band. Coincidentally they're also my second favourite Western Australian band (do the math).

Both covers with the tape version. The yellow is the limited Ringworm rip off cover for collector scum just like me . Of 15.

Seriously... watch Suffer. Getting better and better. Micky sounds just like a fucking barking mad pit bull on this tape. Cannot wait for a QLD tour (hint hint).

Duckhunt Demo Upload

I talked about Duckhunt a while ago, but I have been into this demo for even longer. Here's the upload for the 2004 tape. Get it. Really really good NY styled, modern hardcore.

Video Disease

One of the last days that we were in Cali we came across this pretty cool record store near Huntington Beach named Vinyl Solution. As per usual I dropped a crap tone of cash on wax that I already have documented on here, including a 7" by the band Video Disease. A notable purchase for me as the bands singer infact turned me onto the record while we were there in-store (he works there), the band play a more maniacal version of some of that classic sleazy Clevo/9 Shocks styled HC. They've got a new record coming soon on Cowabunga, and right now on their blog you can download the current record and the bands demo for free. Get into 'em, good things are a comin'.

Is it really that obvious?

Okay yeah it is... I miss it. I bought these American treats today from a place that imports all that junk, in some crappy attempt at recreating my time in New York City. I'm a loser.

I also got the following...

Rival Mob LP. Alot of hype. All deserved. Shit hot. But I do think that the radio set is better.

Monument To Thieves s/t 7" on clear. Members of the now defunct As Hope Dies.

The new Repulse demo tape came as I was expecting, but Alex also threw in a copy of his new zine Video Dick.
Hadn't even heard of it before this, but I'm liking it alot. Thanks Alex, the last copy of Downsided #2 that I have is coming straight to you.

Missing it all

I've got the worst NYC withdrawal symptoms. It's terrible. I've never missed any particular place more in my life. I keep picturing various places in the big apple, and I keep imagining being back there. The 24 hour deli's (these two in particular. They were at the corner of 7th and W20th, near where we stayed.), Times Square, Soho, the lower east side, the Brooklyn Bridge. Arrhhhhh. What makes it worse is knowing that I won't be back there for at least another two years or more (fuck debt).
Anyway on the brighter side...

Antidote shirt. Don't have to boot my own now.

Tear Gas demo tape bootleg 10" on clear. Good work Lewis. Thanks. Your zines are in the mail.

Cult Minds demo tape. Members of Cut Sick?
So the plan now is to begin saving to pay out all and any debt and then get down to throwing money together for a long term backpacking trek across the USA, Europe and some bits of Asia (most notably Japan). It'll take me quite a while, but I'm doing it. I need to get back to NYC at least.

Home again home again

Proper update later when I get on my computer (I'm on the GF's), but Mammoth Grinder just uploaded a new demo track from their upcoming MLP due out on Cyclopean Records. Check it out. Skull crushing. I love this band. Speaking of Cyclopean, the pre orders for the new Iron Age 2xLP are up now.

Last few days in Cali...

We are flying home tomorrow. Back to my mundane and rather stressful job. I'm not too keen. I don't want to think about it. So I'll think about what the last few days brought me instead (there is way too many good record stores in socal)...

Loser Life 7"

Far From Breaking 7" on yellow

Phobia/Skrupel split 7"

Burning Fight Videos

I staged dive right in the begining of this video. You don't see me though, it's too dark. Anywho... this is Trial with Reflections. Best set of the weekend easily. So happy I got to this band live. Youtube search 'Burning Fight', there's a heap of them there.

California Knows How To Party...

...(not). Los Angeles is actually quite a shithole. All it is is massive highways and overpasses, expensive parking garages, slums, and shitty architecture. I was warned, and I knew in the back of my head, but actually being here has really proven it. I wish I was still in New York.
I am in quite a bad mood too, as I missed my flight to Boston today to see Mind Eraser, and the next one wouldn't have arrived in that town until midnight, so that really means no Mind Eraser. Quite pissed off. On the bright side though, we are thinking about coming back to Cali in August for Sound And Fury, featuring a massive list of great bands including Mind Eraser, Mammoth Grinder, Iron Age, Hatred Surge, Downpresser... the list goes on and on.
Anyway, here's what been happening over the last few days...

Went to Santa Monica beach and pier. Was alright I guess. Literally singed the bottoms of my feet before I bought those thongs pictured, because it was so fucking hot. I have blisters to prove it.
Hey...

American food culture is stupidly over the top. Near 2L "double gulp". Fast food stores everywhere, and all offer supersize styled options, and all serve amazingly greasy crap.

Wasn't really that amazing.

Our ride for the week. American drivers are quite simply maniacs.

Went shopping in a few record stores too. Amoeba Records was massive. Just a big warehouse full of wax and CD's. And Headline Records on Melrose. A Cool little crust and thrash place. They had an OG SOA single. He wanted $400 for it.

Rot In Hell shirt

Black Flag- Damaged LP

Nailed Down- Perth Wolfpack LP

Immortal Technique- Revolutionary Vol. 2 gatefold 2xLP

Midnight 10"

Deathcage 2nd 7"

Psyched To Die 7"

Rosenbombs 7"

ACxDC 7"

Tarpit 7"

Upstab 7"

Straight Faced 7"

Straight Jacket (Nation) first 7"

Street Trash 7"

Haymaker 7"

9 Shocks 7"

Fucked Up- Police 7"

To brighten up my day a little, Claire, my friend in Boston (who was going to show me around the town and take me to the show), is going to buy me and Grant a Mind Eraser shirt each when she sees them. So that eases the blow a little for me. Not much though. Thanks Claire.

On a completely different note, Cyclopean Records is releasing both the new Iron Age LP and the new Mammoth Grinder LP in the next few months. I think that this new label is actually Jason Tarpey's (Iron Age lead singer) already established tape label Next Level. That's what it seems like anyway. Iron Age pre orders due in a few days, and Mammoth Grinder due in a couple months. Can't wait, both bands rule my world.
